Lusaka Business and Technical College initially known as Hodgson College, was established in 1956. In order to provide industry specific training skills, the name was later changed to Lusaka Trades Training Institute. Furthermore, to accommodate growing demand for business related courses, the institution introduced Business and Technical courses in the College portfolio and changed its name to Lusaka Business and Technical College (LBTC). The function of LBTC’s Management Board as enshrined in the TEVET Act number 13 of 1998 is to: Provide training in technical education, vocational and entrepreneurship training. Develop curricula for the institute. Ensure the standards prescribed by TEVETA are maintained by the institution. Provide training for the staff at the institution. Administer the affairs of the institute. Subject to the approval of the Minister charge and collect fees for tuition, boarding and other services provided by the institution; and, Do all such things as the Management board may consider necessary to promote technical education, vocational and entrepreneurship training.
